I’ve Tried and Tried and Tried

 (BETWEEN DARKNESS AND LIGHT)

This book is a thrilling story about the struggles and hardships that she has been through in this cold, hard world. It goes from the ever so loving happiness of a family, to the deepest depths of addiction. Her story is one for the history books, but also a story that tells of the strength and passion of a black woman who dreams to be successful in this world today. Not everyone can overcome the challenges she has faced in her life, but as a strong black woman in this unforgiving world, Cheryl has made a name for herself. This story here tells how that name came about. “In life God provides you with chances, opportunities, situations, circumstances, and people....for a reason or a season” Sometimes both. The author of this book has not written these words for entertainment, they are authentic. This is her story. I know because God has loaned her to me for quite a season now and i recognize the reason...This story being shared is one of true revelation of the meaning of a deep and loving relationship with our Divine Higher Power and most be-loved God! The courage, strength, wisdom, sincerity this soldier of the Lord has chosen to share will help those wandering in the dark to look deeper, harder and longer at the choices they have made and whom they have served within and without their struggles through life....Riveting book....awesome, metaphorically intertwined in the complex and compelling struggle Christians experienced while carry our cross...Amazing!!!!!!!!! – V. He couldn’t believe what he was looking at. A large blonde man almost naked, his body covered in some kind of paint, blue and green, his hair, though it was obviously blonde, it was stood up on end as if he had suffered an electric shock, and it was covered in some white substance. It was by far the most frightening sight Timothy had ever seen. “

Author Harold Robbins

AuthorHouse Spotlight: Harold Robbins & The Amazing Kreskin
What do the world's greatest mentalist and the best-selling American fiction author of all time have in common? They're both published at AuthorHouse!

Harold Robbins, a novelist known for steamy passion in his works, stirs up passion of a different kind in The Adventurers, a story of revolution and danger in the sultry jungles of South America. As a young boy, Diogenes Alejandro Xenos, witnesses the murder of his mother and sister by a band of marauders. As “Dax” grows to adulthood, he channels his fear and hatred into a desire for revolution, swearing revenge on those in power as he upsets the status quo. His actions make him an outlaw, living on the fringes of society in a land turned upside down with corruption. He is wanted by men and women alike—but for very different reasons. This epic tale of escape from the horrors of a third-world regime is one of Harold Robbins’ most ambitious novels ever, combining his trademark sensuality with political intrigue and a globe-spanning variety of exotic locales. Lose yourself in The Adventurers. PREVIEW: I was playing in the hot sun of the front yard when I heard the first thin scream from far down the road toward town. My dog heard it too, for suddenly he stopped frisking around me and the little adobe hut I was trying to build in the hard-baked dirt. He looked up at me, his eyes white and frightened, his yellow tail curving protectively against his testes. He stood very still and began to tremble. "Quién es?" I asked, my hand reaching to soothe him. I knew he was frightened but I didn’t know why. The scream had been eerie and curiously disturbing but I wasn’t frightened. Fear is something that has to be learned. I was still too young. I was six years old. There was the rattle of gunfire in the distance. It quickly died away and then came the sound of another scream, this one louder and more terrified than the first. The dog broke and raced away to the cane field, ears flat against his head. I ran after him, screaming, "Perro! Perro! Venga aqúi!" By the time I reached the edge of the field he was already gone. I stood very still, trying to locate him by sound amidst the heavy stalks. "Perro!" I shouted. He did not come back. The sugarcane rustled slightly in the warm breeze. I could smell its pungent sweetness. It had rained last night and the sugar was wet and heavy in the stalks. Suddenly I was aware that I was alone. The workmen who were there only a few minutes ago were gone. They had vanished like the dog. I stood there thinking that my father would be very angry with them. At ten centavos an hour, he expected each of them to give him a full measure of work. "Dax!" The scream came from the house behind me. I turned around. My older sister and one of the kitchen girls were standing on the galería along the front of the house. "Dax! Dax!" my sister screamed, her arm waving. "The dog ran into the cane," I shouted back, and turned once more to look into the field. A moment later I heard her footsteps behind me and before I could turn around she had scooped me up in her arms and was running back toward the house. I could hear her labored breath against my ear and the sobbing husky murmur of her voice, "Ah, Dios! Dios!" My mother was at the doorway even before we reached the galería. "Quickly. A la bodega!" she hissed. "The wine cellar."

THE EVOLUTION OF MAN

The place where Science and Religion meet

This is the ark of Noah (the boat that floated on top of the water when the first world was destroyed). This book is calling for a religious debate to review the understandings about the ark and the beginning of our world system. The Bible story about the ark is true, but the interpretation about the ark is faulty. When you see the ark, you know that everything of which this object is composed resembles our modern life. It looks like a cabin. It looks like nails or glue was used to fasten the wood together. It looks like Noah knew about the invention of axes or cutlasses and hammers. So if Noah knew of these inventions, then why did early men start this world with nothing? They lived in caves and roamed the earth, using bare hands to strangle animals so they could eat the flesh. This book will introduce you to the things surrounding this ark. It will offer the wisdom of the Great Jehovah. This wisdom never has been understood, from the beginning until now. The Seventh Treasure

A young woman is killed in an apparent traffic accident in the mountains outside of the city of Granada, Spain. Her brother, who heads up the Attack on Principle training unit of the U.S. Secret Service, travels to Spain to bring her body back to America. There, and in the company of a female lieutenant in the National Police Force, it is discovered that there may have been foul play associated with his sister Gina’s death. Soon, the consequence of this incident generates a cascade of mysterious murders that confounds local authorities and shuts down all leads to why Gina Cerone was killed. Eugene Cerone, after a thirty year career in the Secret Service, retires so that he can participate in the investigation of Gina’s apparent murder. Working with Lieutenant Mercedes Garcia Rico, an attractive, strong willed and competent investigator, the two uncover an unfathomable conspiracy that dates back to the time the Moors surrendered their kingdom in Spain to the Catholic monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabela in 1492. Driven first by the mission to bring the killer of his sister to justice, Cerone is forced to confront a true evil empire, one that could threaten the stability of an allied nation, Europe as well as the security of the United States. Without official sanction from either government, Cerone builds an unlikely support network and investigative team that includes resources from the Secret Service, a Hollywood film studio, the CIA and the Spanish Police Scientific Unit. Innovative behavioral analysis techniques, financial forensics and intelligence systems are used to link historical events and Arabian fables to crimes and conspiracies of the 21st century. Cerone and Lieutenant Garcia must decipher fact from fable, evidence from whispered rumors and leads from legends, to solve the mystery and stop a silent revolution — and convince both Spanish and American authorities, that the conspiracy is real and not fantasy.

Author Carolyn Mitchell

Riley Chester-field Mouse has acquired both a name and some friends in this 2nd book of a series chronicling the life of the little field mouse. Through the same easy-read poetry and captivating caricatures exhibited in The Tale of the Christmas Hero, the author and artist comically relate the imaginative adventures -- and misadventures -- of Riley and his friends. The tale begins on a crisp, fall morning as Riley hastens to join his friends in their newly-discovered game called football. In a flashback to the previous week, Riley recalls his disastrous introduction to the sport when he tried to interject himself into a people-boys' game and was found to be no match for a football 10 times his size! But his inventive friend, Gus, hatched a plan to scale the game down to their level, promising to bring a mouse-sized ball to their next Saturday play date. When Gus arrives at the field lugging a HUGE pumpkin, his friends scoff in disbelief until he climbs inside the pumpkin and proudly produces the perfect game ball -- a pumpkin seed! So, then, with walnut shells for helmets and long toenails for cleats, both teams stood ready to perform amazing football feats!! The game and the story play out in clever detail as each mouse team scrambles to conquer the scoreboard before the hungry little Gus devours all the delicious-tasting balls! Through a delightful twist at the end of the tale, the little mice discover friendship to be the real victor in their competition. The Tale of the Pumpkin Seed Squad is a delightful commentary on competition and sportsmanship that will surely charm even the least of its budding-athlete readers.

Positive Harmlessness in Practice

Enough for Us All, Volume Two All spiritual traditions mandate harmlessness, yet the twentieth century was the most violent period in human history. How is this possible? Positive Harmlessness in Practice documents that we have no collective experience of harmlessness because our habits of harm are so pervasive. To build our “harmlessness muscle,” Dr. Riddle details a pragmatic three-step daily practice—a Butterfly Shift. Such mini-immersion experiences of harmlessness help us develop the skills and habits that make it possible for us to embed harmlessness as our core value. Positive Harmlessness invites us to embrace an ethic of harmlessness, individually and as a human family. Practical exercises and a Harmlessness Scale™ help us learn to model harmlessness in all that we think, say, and do.

How To Get There From Here...The Ten Lessons That Have Served Me Well

THEN AND NOW In 1971, as an undergraduate student at Loyola University of Chicago, I often sat on the steps of the Chicago Water Tower during class breaks. I watched the traffic flowing north and south along Michigan Avenue’s bustling Magnificent Mile. As a kid who hailed from the housing projects on the west side of Chicago, I marveled at the late model cars, beautifully tailored pedestrians and the expensive boutiques that lined the street. I often wondered, “How do you get there from here?” In 1994, I arrived in Bentonville, Arkansas to assume my new post as the Senior Vice-President of the People Division for Wal-Mart Stores (Sam Walton’s term for human resources). Soon to become the world’s largest retailer and private employer, a Fortune #1 company and among the Fortune 100 Best Companies To Work For. I had experienced an exciting and satisfying journey. Today, residing on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina I enjoy my role as consultant and corporate board member for several public companies. Over the years, I have shared my thoughts on “getting there from here” in many places around the world. Why not finally put them in a book? Good question. This book is my answer. Enjoy.
